On February 6, 2026, Associate Professor Lyu Peng, Director of the Music Department at the School of Arts of Guizhou University of Engineering Science (GUES), was invited by Shinawatra University (Thailand) to deliver a lecture titled Theory and Practice of Regional Red Music Culture Research at the university's doctoral and master’s campus, further advancing discipline construction and international academic exchanges between the two universities.
Based on seven years of research findings on Bijie’s red music culture, Professor Lyu presented a vivid panorama of the development of red music, integrating theoretical approaches and historical context with musical scores, audio, and video materials. The lecture resonated strongly with the attending Chinese and Thai students. The Bijie tourism promotion video shown at the event also sparked strong interest among Thai students in visiting Guizhou.
As a key part of the discipline construction series between the two universities, this activity promoted interdisciplinary integration in musicology through international academic dialogue, enhanced local research capabilities by drawing on international experience, and facilitated the development of the distinctive discipline of “Red Music Culture Research”. Associate Professor Lyu Peng's engagement exemplified the effort to "tell China's story well," presenting a credible, appealing, and respectable image of China in exchanges, and injecting new impetus into the internationalization of the discipline.
