GUES Held A Featured Choral Concert

A choral concert featured as “Qian Songs Lingering among Mountains” was conducted in Qiu Yi Studio of Guizhou University of Engineering Science, in the evening of April 20th.

            

The concert was opened in an impassioned mix chorus “Thinking of Qin Lou Shan Guan”. And an a cappella “Drum-trampling Tune” staged afterwards, in which the singers imitated the drumbeats of Miao music to show an amazing scene of the Miao girls stamping the drums, impressed and cheered the audiences. Remixed “Yelang, My Home”, a Yi folk song from the northwest of Guizhou, strong style, terse composition, conveys the wandering sons’ homesick and praise to hometown. Created on the basis of the folk song with the same name, women chorus “A Xi Li Xi” applies techniques such as canon and variation to describe a vivid picture of the lovely and lively life of Yi youths. Sounded humorous, “Tune of Picking Vegetables” sketched how the nifty young girls pick vegetables. This pushed the concert to a new high.

               

The concert ended with a warmth reminiscing school song “Anthem 1939”. And it was a rich and exquisite auditory and visual feast the attracted all audience with its high level and quality.

              

Liu Cang Choir, established in April 2015, is a large chorus art team composed mainly by music major students from the School of Arts, Guizhou University of Engineering Science, and there are 80 members at present who commit to create and rehearse elegant chorus works. In doing so, they mean to inherit both Chinese and western chorus art, carry forward the national music culture of the northwestern Guizhou, and promote the campus culture taste and then to serve Bijie Experimental Region.
